Hotel Goldener Hirsch, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Salzburg

This hotel is in traditional style and we really enjoyed it. Their room keys are still actual keys and the rooms have traditional style wood furniture but still had a modern cabin vibe. By the way, they have replica keys for purchase, very cute item to remind you of your trip. The bathroom was beautiful and room size was great. Their breakfast was delicious and the staff here were all very kind. It is located right in the center of all the shops and restaurants and walking distance to everything.

Just book it! THIS STAY WAS SOOOO REFRESHING. Brought me back to the “good old days” of Marriott’s exemplary service, cleanliness and class. This hotel is so classy and one-of-a-kind. From the moment we arrived, we received exceptional service. We arrived just before 9 PM when the restaurants were all closing and they quickly got us to our room, got our bags unloaded and got us to the restaurant to get dinner before it was too late. I was overly impressed with the style and uniqueness of this hotel. It is top notch luxury. Well done.

My wife and I enjoyed three days in Salzburg in early September, 2023, and one of the highlights was our stay at the Goldener Hirsch. We had a delightful, spacious room across Getreidegasse from the main entrance to the hotel. The room amenities were many and much appreciated. Breakfast was superb! The buffet offered a wide variety of choices, and one could also order from the menu. And the staff was wonderful - friendly and professional, with lots of smiles and always offering to help or assist. Located along the famous shopping street, the hotel is within walking distance of all of old Salzburg, including many good restaurants. We highly recommend the Goldener Hirsch.

I am appalled the way we were treated. My husband’s sister who works for Marriott made reservations for us two months in advance to Celebrate our version of thanksgiving in Salzburg on our month holiday in Europe. We attempted to check in at 1:30, and they told us they had emailed us at 10:50am the day of check in. They would no longer accept our reservation from September, we have two young children traveling from Switzerland. Very bad business. Who does this!!! How is this even acceptable. They did transfer our hotel accommodations to the Sheraton but at our room priced reserved with them in September. We were going to take the kids to the Christmas markets since we are currently living in Saudi Arabia and there is no Christmas celebrations. Overall, really changed our experience in Salzburg. Truly feels terrible to be kicked out with our children in a foreign country two hrs prior to check in due to their booking issues. Apparently, this is not the first time Sheraton had to accommodate kicked out guest due to overbookings. Any business with morals or ethics would not do such a thing to another person and children. Still… completely in shock that the Marriott condones such inconsiderate behavior.

This place is fantastic! Our only regret is not staying here the entire stay in Salzburg. The service of the staff was exquisite. Every employee was helpful, friendly, and informative and handled all of our needs. The room and accommodations were amazing with a lovely view. I will be staying at the Goldener Hirsch next time I visit Salzburg

Beyond belief this is a top knotch hotel. For parking go to the back entrance for the hotel. Loading zone is located in the back. Front entrance is in the pedestrian only zone. Room was great. They have speakers in the bathrooms so you can listen to music. The hotel has 2 restaurants and a bar. There is a buffet for breakfast which is worth the cost. Service was excellent for all phases

The Goldener Hirsch was the highlight of a Christmastime trip to Salzburg and offered a refuge from the crowds and a cozy place to relax after sightseeing. The design of the hotel combines traditional Tyrolean charm with subtle modern updates like heated floors, motion sensor lights, and a wonderful shower. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant and bar were gracious and helped us find a dinner reservation during the busiest week of the year, and the location is great for sightseeing.
